Purpose of Ministry:
How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. (Psalms
133:1) it is the goal of the Men’s Ministry to provide opportunities for
fellowship and service for men of all ages. Our meetings are informal,
informational and there is something available for all men, regardless of
the amount of church experience (great or small). Men are given the
opportunity to serve God, one another, the Church and grow in the grace and
knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
PROVERBS 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
Reach men with the good news of the Gospel of Christ.
Edify and encourage men to be godly men.
Discipleship and education of men through Bible study and fellowship.
Create and build Christian role models.
Evangelism of non-believing men through sports and other activities.
Build fellowship among men.
Glorify the Lord.
Support the goals and vision of Valley Baptist Church.
Program of Ministry:
There are several opportunities provided for men to establish friendship,
fellowship, minister, and have fun. One of the most active ministries used
over the first half of the year has been the Miscellaneous Helps Ministry.
This is a group of volunteers that lend their time, talents, abilities,
brains, and mostly brawn to install T-buildings, T- building decking, room
dividers, dig trenches and sprinkler system installations, drains, booth
set-up, move tables and chairs and any other job requiring help. To some
degree or another most of the men have helped out in this way. Subject
matter experts, professionals and handymen lead these men. There is also
another service group that deals more specifically with individuals and
families. They assist the elderly, widows, single parents and other needy
families within the church. This group performs minor repairs/tasks in and
around the home.
Various fellowships are also planned and organized throughout the year. In
each of these events preparation is necessary and opportunities for service
and participation are available. In addition to the above activities are the
following: Bible Studies, fellowship breakfasts, camp-outs, fishing trips,
special men’s outings, softball, basketball, co-ed volleyball, golf
scrambles, and flag football.
Opportunities to Serve:
Participation is available in any of the sub-committees that
coordinate/sponsor the activities mentioned above. Qualification for service
includes a commitment and willingness to serve and lend a hand for an
estimated 1-3 hours per month. The activity time varies with the level of
one’s involvement. Opportunities to serve include: President, Vice
President, Breakfast Fellowship Coordinator, Breakfast Program Coordinator,
Bible Study Leader/Facilitator, Secretary/Treasurer and Sub-Committee
Worker. All listed service opportunities have job descriptions available
through the church office.
