WELCOME TO THE VALLEY BAPTIST FAMILY!
We’re honored that you’re interested in becoming a member of Valley Baptist Church. Our heart is to walk alongside you as you take this important next step in your faith journey. Becoming a member of a local church body is a significant milestone in our relationship with God.
As a member, you’re not just joining an organization—you’re joining a family. We want to encourage your spiritual growth through personal Bible study, prayer, and deepening relationships with others through worship services and Life Groups. You’ll also have the opportunity to serve, give, and grow by using your gifts on one of our ministry teams. Together, we’ll live out our mission: Trust in Jesus, Walk with God, and Join the Mission.
Why join the Church?
Church membership is more than just attending—it’s about belonging. When you become a member, you are joining a spiritual family that’s committed to growing together, supporting one another, and living out the gospel.
Just as God places us in earthly families, He invites us into His spiritual family—a local Church—when we trust in Jesus as Savior. In this family, we grow together in faith, serve one another in love, and link arms to fulfill Christ’s mission.
Membership is about deepening your faith, being guided by our pastors, and building life-giving relationships with other believers. It’s a commitment to walk with one another in mutual support, service, and accountability as we follow Jesus together.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN THE CHURCH?
1. Salvation
This is the first and most important step. Salvation is receiving the gift of eternal life by placing your faith in Jesus Christ and repenting of your sins. We all fall short, and the penalty of sin is death and separation from God. But in His great love, God sent His Son, Jesus, to die in our place. Jesus rose from the dead, defeating sin and death, offering us eternal life. This gift is freely offered to all who will receive it.

2. Baptism
The next step is baptism, which is your public profession of faith in Christ. We believe that biblical baptism is by immersion in water, after salvation, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It’s a beautiful act of obedience that symbolizes the transformation that has taken place in your heart.

3. Membership Covenant
Lastly, we ask that you read and agree to our [Membership Covenant (link)]. By doing so, you’re affirming that you’re in general agreement with our beliefs as outlined in the [2000 Baptist Faith and Message (link)], and that you’re willing to abide by our [bylaws (link)] and church policies.

HOW DO YOU JOIN THE CHURCH?
The easiest way to join is by coming forward during the invitation at the end of any of our worship services—at any campus. A pastor or prayer partner will be ready to meet you and walk you through the process with love and excitement.
Here are the ways to become a member:
Baptism
Anyone who has placed their faith in Jesus and shows evidence of repentance may join the church by baptism through immersion.
Letter
If you’re a member of another Baptist church, you can transfer your membership by letter of good standing.
Statement of Faith and Baptism
If a letter is not available, you may join by statement of Faith and biblical baptism.
Once you’ve agreed to the Membership Covenant and made your decision public, we will joyfully welcome you into the church family!
