Co-Senior Pastor Inauguration Night
Fruitvale Campus Worship Center

This night marked the beginning of a new era of leadership in the life of Valley Baptist Church as we inaugurated Pastor Andrew Spradlin and Pastor Brian Busby as Co-Senior Pastors. A pastor inauguration service is a special time in which a pastor is installed into his new role after the membership has voted to formally approve his appointment. The pastoral transition process we’ve been working through as a church family for the past two years is now complete.

On this night, Pastor Roger retired as Senior Pastor of Valley Baptist Church after almost 40 years of faithful service. This historic occasion provided an opportunity to celebrate the past and look ahead to the future with our new Co-Senior Pastors leading us. Our leadership may be changing, but our mission remains the same – reaching our city, state, and world for Christ.

Church Family,

The transition between Senior Pastors is a critical moment in the life of a church. Pastor Phil announced his plan to retire in January 2022, while continuing to serve part-time here at the church. Pastor Roger announced his plan to retire in August 2023. Our Board of Directors have prayerfully developed a clear, two-year transition process for our church to elect our new Senior Pastor.

First, our Senior Pastors and Board of Directors have recommended that Pastor Andrew Spradlin become our next Senior Pastor upon Pastor Roger’s retirement. The church will vote on that recommendation on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021.

In light of this recommendation, this is the timeline of events we will follow as a church family as we navigate this season of transition together:

Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021

Our Board of Directors recommended that Pastor Andrew Spradlin become our next Senior Pastor upon the retirement of Pastor Roger Spradlin.
